U.S. Girls – Island Song 7"

With stellar releases on top-tier labels such as Siltbreeze, Palmist Records, and Kraak, U.S. Girls (aka Meghan Remy) has released the first of two limited edition 7-inches for Calico Corporation, the label she runs with Slim Twig.

The a-side, “Island Song,“ is a surefire hit single with heavy Italo Disco undertones that could easily slide between Julee Cruise songs on a Lynch soundtrack. The track is also featured as the lead single on Meg Remy’s U.S. Girls on Kraak LP released on Belgian label, Kraak. The b-side, “High School Poetry,“ was produced by Onakabazien and is an incantation to the ghost of Mariah’s ’90s. The 7″ is limited to 300 copies and includes a free download.

Calico Corporation is an artist-run publisher of art artifacts with an emphasis on distinctly idiosyncratic music. The MO of the Corp. is to produce unique articles, starkly designed. Calico Corp. aims to present a vision of culture free of the hype and corporatization of underground music.
